Pier One Sydney Harbour, Autograph Collection
Winter has arrived in Australia and so have igloos on the pier! We took a trip up to Sydney to experience one of the best Winter activations in the city. But first, let’s talk about Pier One Sydney Harbour, the iconic Sydney hotel created within a converted warehouse on a pier, nearly underneath the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.
I’d been wanting to stay at this hotel for years now and finally was able to make it on my last trip to Sydney! We stayed in the Harbour View Balcony suite and it was just beautiful. Although the room is very spacious, making space for 2 bathrooms, a huge bedroom, dining area and lounge, the balcony feels enormous! I’d have to say it’s one of the biggest hotel balconies I’ve seen… and I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels. I especially loved the grand bath where a sliding door can be opened to seperate the bathroom and bedroom. Such a nice feature.
For food and drink, the Gantry Restaurant hosts a delicious buffet breakfast and by night, becomes a sophisticated restaurant with a dégustation menu paired with wines. For something more casual, just outside is the Kerrigan on-site food truck serves casual fare (burgers, smoked lamb ribs, charred king prawns) with a heavenly waterside setting.
Igloos on our very own private balcony
I wasn’t lying when I said the balcony is huge! Definitely big enough to fit an entire igloo, dining table and still have heaps of room leftover. We stayed in the Dream Igloo Suite and everything was already set up in this heavenly igloo for us to enjoy. Later on, staff bought us a bottle of champagne and a cheese board and it was the most wonderful night. With a heater inside, it was hard to leave this cosy space whilst we just enjoyed watching harbour life into the night.
There are public igloos at the pier one bar, but if you have the chance, I couldn’t recommend booking your own private one enough!
