When I think of Singapore, one of the first places that comes to mind is Marina Bay Sands. It is the most iconic landmark in Singapore and not to mention holds the title for the world’s largest rooftop infinity pool. Since it was my first time visiting the city, I knew I wanted to experience at least one night here.
Marina Bay Sands is one VERY grand complex. Beyond the hotel itself, it also hosts 80 chic restaurants and 24 bars, including a skybar with sweeping city views, convention-exhibition centre, an enormous shopping mall, a museum, two large theatres, dozens of restaurants, two floating Crystal Pavilions, an art-science museum, and the world’s largest atrium casino. Another short walk away is the iconic Gardens of the Bay, which we could even see from our balcony!
When we first arrived and were checking in, we even joked that it kind of felt more like an airport or train station rather than a hotel lobby!
Marina Bay Sands SkyPark
It’s no secret what draws most visitors to Marina Bay Sands is the SkyPark located on the rooftop. Over three acres, it houses a restaurant, nightclub, a viewing deck, and an 150m infinity-edge swimming pool. I’ve had this place on my bucket list for years and it certainly did not disappoint. The view was mesmerising at all hours but extra magical at night. It really feels like you’re swimming on top of the city which is the most surreal feeling. Grab a cocktail and soak in the atmosphere!
Marina Bay Sands has 2561 rooms (yes, another WOW!) and suites spread across the 3 towers. All rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows with either views of the Garden by the Bay, the harbour, the city or the Singapore skyline. The rooms are extremely spacious with a balcony and windows that allow lots of natural light to flood in. The bathroom was also huge and featured a bathtub, shower and two sinks. The interiors were very classic with finishing touches of marble.
Prices: Rooms and suites start from $425 Singapore dollars a night, depending on the time you are visiting. Hotel guests can visit the SkyPark and infinity swimming pool without charge; open daily 6am-11pm. Use of the pool is restricted to hotel guests.
Location: 10 Bayfront Drive, Marina Bay, Singapore. Location of the Marina Bay Sands (Google Maps). Approximately one hour from Changi Airport by MRT or 20 minutes by car.
Final thoughts: Marina Bay Sands was one of the highlights of our trip and a must for first time visitors. Would I stay again? Yes! The pool really is incomparable and I can’t wait to be back one day. If you’re going to be spending all day or all night at the pool, then it is definitely worth it.
