It feels very fitting to be typing this right now, being able to finally sit outside and enjoy a sunny morning. One month into Spring and I feel like we’re just kind of starting to experience it (that’s Melbourne for you), which brings me to this outfit. Since it hasn’t been warm enough for sundresses and shorts just yet, I’ve found open back sweaters to be the perfect transitional piece.
In case you’ve missed the trend, open or twist back sweaters are everywhere right now. I don’t think I could look through a “what’s new” section online and not spot at least one! I’m not complaining though, I personally love them. This pink twist back sweater, in particular, caught my heart and I had it sitting in my saved items whilst I
patiently waited for it to come back in stock in my size. Story of my life. I think it was the colour that first stole me as I don’t own any anything in it and this year has been the year I’ve been slowly stepping away from wearing black 7 days a week. It’s been a process.
If you don’t know where to start when it comes to open back sweaters, don’t worry, I have you covered. Here’s some other styles I’m loving! The great thing about them is there’s one to suit everyone’s needs – you can show as much or as little skin as you want.
I wore it with a nude bra but it would look even cuter with a pretty lace bralette, I just haven’t found one that gives enough support. If you know of any, help a girl out! For those lucky enough to get away with it, something like this halterneck bralette (that comes in like every colour imaginable) or for a long line bralette, this one and this one are both super cute and inexpensive. There’s just something about knitted sweaters and lace.
I’ve had so many questions about these lace up ballet flats! They’re currently on sale for $14 which is a total steal. They come in a grey version which are also very cute. I always wanted to do ballet as I was growing up but unfortunately my poise and coordination skills very not quite there, LOL. Truth be told, I think I only wanted to get into it for the outfits. Typical.
Also can we just take a moment for these jeans?! Although I’m not one for a light washed denim, I adore these. If you’ve never tried Topshop denim before, let me tell you, you’re missing out. Incredibly flattering, comfortable and made of high quality denim that keeps its shape for years. I find they run a bit small but give way and stretch over time.
