Do you suffer with dark circles? Puffy eyes? Under eye wrinkles? Because I have a solution; eye patches. They’ve become a game-changer in my skincare routine recently. I’m not always the best with sticking to a skincare routine every morning and night, but trust me when I say every morning, without fail, you’ll find me wearing under eye patches replying to emails and drinking coffee. It’s quite relaxing actually. Plus it doesn’t cost you any time at all if you lead a busy morning.
When I talk to my friends, it seems to be the one thing we all have in common. We’re all looking in search of a way to get rid of those pesky under eye circles and darkness. It the one thing we all suffer from to a certain degree. Applying layers of concealer, foundation, and brightening powders is great and all, but it doesn’t solve the problem. That’s when I discovered the magic of eye patches.
I first heard about eye patches when looking into Korean Beauty. Asian beauty marketers were the first to pioneer it, and we all know they never get it wrong (seriously though, they have it all figured out when it comes to skincare). Since then, there’s been an influx of eye patches just about EVERYWHERE. Think 24k gold eye patches, snail eye patches, collagen eye patches, cucumber eye patches… you name it. I mean I could go on forever here.
Eye patches give your under eye area a serious boost of hydration, moisture, brightness and collagen, which promotes tighter skin which leads to less wrinkles. They help to the skin’s natural repair process, locking in vital nutrients lost through environmental damage, poor diets and lack of sleep.
I find them more hydrating than any under eye cream claims to be.
If I ever wake up with puffy and red eyes from no sleep or a big night, I just pop on the eye patches for about 15-20 minutes as soon as I wake up and GONE. They’re a complete lifesaver if you’re ever hungover. Keep them stored in the fridge too. They work even better when they’re cold and feel so good on the skin first thing in the morning. You’ll feel a million times more awake.
The best in the game
24k gold eye patches… I mean is there a need to say anything more? In all seriousness though, these eye patches are the epitome of luxury. It contains a rather unique blend of colloidal gold, caffeine, hydrolyzed collagen, and humectants to reduce fine lines, puffiness, dark circles, and all that fun stuff. While the gold actually imparts a radiant glow giving the skin a lifted appearance, it’s the hyaluronic acid and glycerin that deliver intense hydration and plump up the skin.
By the same brand, Peter Thomas Roth, they’ve also released hydra-gel cucumber eye patches. The ingredients in this one focus more on awakening fatigued skin. It helps to detox the skin while providing hydration which de-puffs the area. Aloe and chamomile are also used to soften the eye’s appearance. However it does still contain collagen and glycerin to help deliver moisture.
A lot of you guys asked me about the cheaper collagen eye patches that circulate eBay and Amazon which I had previously used and shown on Snapchat, and after doing some research, it contained a pretty nasty ingredient, as do a lot of the cheaper eye patches you see floating around. Make sure you do your research. The Peter Thomas Roth eye patches have been the best I’ve found so far in terms of quality and price. There is also the SK-II Skin Signs Eye Mask and the Elemis Pro-Collagen ones, but for the amount you get, the price is a little eye-watering.
So what are your thoughts on eye patches? Have you used them before? I’d love to hear!
