How to Get Glowing Skin in 5 Easy Steps

achieving illuminated skin

It’s hard to believe highlighters were never a staple in my routine up until the past couple years as they have grown to become one of my most used, and regularly bought makeup products. I can’t keep away from dewy, glowing skin and the products it takes to achieve it. You already know I’m very loyal to moisture boosting serums and include them in my routine where possible, so my adoration for the following products will come as no surprise to you at all.

When I received these products from one of my favourite beauty brands, Pixi, that are all about creating a a healthy glow, I knew I had to share them with you guys. After testing and implementing them into my routine, I can safely say I’ve fallen for them all. Whether you’re heading into winter or summer, these products will help your skin keep hydrated and healthy. We all know how much the cold weather dries out skin, but don’t underestimate the affect of sun damage in summer. They can both leave your skin parched and in need of some moisture. That’s where I introduce #PixiGlow, a selection of 5 must-haves and cult favourites that exfoliate, hydrate and add a touch of colour for a lit-from-within look!

Nourishing Cleansing Balm

Highlighters and illuminating products can only take you so far as glowing skin all begins with skincare. Keeping your skin hydrated and healthy is so important all year round, although this is especially important for those of you heading into the cooler months where your skin is more likely to become quite dry and dehydrated due to lack of humidity.

This is the Pixi Nourishing Cleansing Balm, a very deep cleansing balm-to-oil cleanser that melts away makeup and impurities and leaves a glowy finish. Never in my life have I tried a cleansing balm until now but I wish I hoped on the bandwagon sooner because this product helps create the perfect base for dewy, illuminated skin. I think the reason I love this cleanser so much is because it turns from balm to oil, so you’re guaranteed an almost shiny finish. It is probably one of the thickest, richest cleansers I’ve ever used on my face and it’s chock-full of emollients like apricot kernel oil and shea butter, which means it’s very effective in removing makeup. If you suffer with dry skin, I couldn’t recommend this enough to you. Total game-changer. Just remember you’ll need a washcloth to wipe this off as it is a balmy texture and water doesn’t really do the trick.

Glow Tonic

Next up is the cult favourite exfoliating Glow Tonic toner that is made to leave your skin brighter and more radiant. It does this by firming and tightening normal to dry, dull and ageing skin, and removing dead skin cells. It doesn’t scrub them away like a lot of scrubs and toners, but instead gently dissolves the bonds binding dulling dead cells to skin’s surface. It contains 5% Glycolic which is the fluid hydrates the skin, and Aloe Vera and Ginseng to help soothe during application so it’s also great if you have sensitive skin. Now, if you’ve been apart of the beauty guru/blogging community before, then you’ll know this has been an incredibly hyped up product to the point where at times it was hard to get your hands on. It takes me right back to the start of my beauty blogging days. So much nostalgia!

To first understand the hype, you’ll have to understand this is not an “instant glow” sort of product like the cleanser. But with regular use over the course of a month or so, that’s when you’ll see it work its magic. Your skin will become more balanced, less congested and revitalized. It’s all about providing that naturally fresh and dewy radiance, whilst also helping gradually diminish signs of sun damage, fine lines, scarring and other imperfections. All you need is a few drops to a cotton wool pad!

Rose Oil Blend

For those of you who regularly read my blog or beauty posts, you’ll know my obsession with this rose oil blend is very expected and rather predictable. I live and die by serums and oils and there isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t use one at some point, whether it be in my makeup or skincare routine. Pixi’s rose oil blend is actually infused with a complex of rich oils, including sweet almond and jojoba oil, that help to improve skin’s elasticity and glow.

If you want that dewy, glowing skin finish after your makeup is applied, I would say it’s very important to use a serum in your skincare routine. This comes with a dropper so it makes application super easy and clean, all you need is 2-3 drops to massage into your skin in the AM & PM. You can also add in a drop into your moisturiser for added luminosity. I do this all the time and it gives the most beautiful, luxurious finish that is silky to touch. Although, if you are very prone to oily skin, then this might be a step you’ll want to skip as it does provide a lot of moisture.

Beauty Blush Duo & Kabuki in Peach Honey

Moving onto makeup, and here we have the gorgeous blush duo in peach honey. This has been one of my go-to products lately and the highlight it gives off is just beyond. The blush is a peachy nude that gives cheeks a lovely sheen without looking too shiny. You can also swirl them together for the most beautiful soft peachy glow! I’m really not a fan of anything “subtle,” particularly when it comes to highlighting products but I’ve fallen for the initial glow of this product. It’s understated, soft and looks absolutely stunning when caught in the right lighting. A perfect everyday duo and great for travel. Although, you can definitely build it up for a more intense look without having to worry about it looking cake-y. It’s not what I’d call glittery or frosty, but instead a very illuminated, “lit from within” sort of finish.

If you’re a highlighter junkie like myself, you won’t want to look past this one either. A lovely addition to any collection or even a great starter product if you find the highlighter world a little bit overwhelming. I add a bit to my cupids bow and the inner corners of my eyes for an extra bit of brightness. It comes with a little kabuki brush which does the job but I prefer to use a blush and fan brush.

Liplift Max

And finally, for a finishing touch, the Liplift Max is a volume-maximizing lip treatment with peptides to hydrate and pump the lips. Let’s be real, I’m a total matte finish lipstick kind of girl but on those days I am feeling something different, this is my go-to. Despite the tube being pink, it actually is a pale translucent shade of pink which makes it ideal as a finishing coat. Use it over nude lips on the minimal makeup days or use a little slick over your favorite lipstick. And no, it’s not at all sticky or tacky, it sits very comfortably on the lips and has a fresh, minty scent which I was pleasantly surprised about. It’s not one of those lip glosses that leave your lips dry either, instead it actually tends to hydrate them. I believe it’s available in 3 shades, this one being “Petal Ice.” The only downside I must add here is you really don’t get a whole lot of product as the size of the tube is quite deceiving, especially with a the price tag of $24!

And there you have it – my routine for a glowing and radiant complexion! Have you ever tried Pixi Beauty or any of these products? I would love to hear your thoughts!

  • Fab post! I’ve been wanting a good moisturising oil serum for agesss! I used to have a favourite one but they stopped stocking it so I haven’t been able to find it anywhere. The Pixi one sounds just like what I’m after! x

    • Thank you! oh you should definitely check out the pixi rose oil!! SO good, especially because it’s filled with so many amazing oils in one (rosehip, jojoba, sweet almond are a few of my faves!) xx

  • Stunning, love the look you achieved with these products. You look so healthy yet flawless. I definitely want to try the Glow Tonic and I just saw Tati from Glam Life Guru talk about the duo blush and demo it on her channel and it is so pretty. Can I ask what foundation you are wearing? I know this is mainly about Pixi, but your skin just looks so darn good. Thanks for sharing, beautiful images x

    • Thanks so much Kiran!! The Glow Tonic is amazing, probably my favourite from the range! Aw thank you, it’s Maybelline Fit Me mixed in with the rose oil. I just started using it and it gives off such a lovely dewy coverage! xx

  • Around Colours

My entire life I’ve had oily skin and I’ve always used mattifying products but for the past few years my skin has been changing and it’s now combination. When I use matte foundations my skin looks extremely dry and if I use dewy foundations, it looks oily after like 30 minutes… And with skincare it’s kind of the same thing. These products seem really interesting, I might try some out and see if they work for my skin!

    • I have combination too! I had to do a lot of experimenting with skincare & makeup to see what regime worked best for me. You should definitely look into foundations for combination skin. I love Armani Maestro or for a cheaper alternative, possibly Bourjois Healthy Mix! xx

  • I really want to try the glow tonic, it sounds amazing :D

    • So so good!! Definitely a favourite from the range! xx
