Discovering La Roche-Posay
La Roche-Posay is one of those brands that I have heard people rave about time and time again, but for some reason never got around to actually giving it a chance. It’s such a shame it has taken me so long to try (story of my life really) because I am completely in love. It’s a world renowned skincare brand that caters to all skin types, including highly sensitive, and offer products to anyone with skin concerns, from acne to aging, and sun safety.
I have already accumulated a small collection featuring my most adored products from the brand and I’ve found myself reaching for them almost daily. Of all the products I have tried so far, I have not been able to fault them.
Because they’ve made such a difference to my skincare routine, I felt the need to also share them with you, in hope you’ll love them just as much as I do! I’m particularly taken back by their suncreens. I used to think there was nothing special to sunscreen, and it wasn’t something I could ever see myself splashing out on, until I consciously started taking better care of my skin.
They have such a wide range of products that I think it can be quite overwhelming to know where to begin. What’s the best product for your skin? What will you get the most use out of? That’s why I thought it might be a good idea to share my favourites, in hope they might give you a bit of insight.
Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel
Although this is said to be for all skin types, I believe it works best on oily skin as it helps remove excess oil. As the title suggests, the purifying foaming gel is indeed a gel turned foam when combined with water that gently cleanses the skin, helping to eliminate impurities and excess sebum. I use it to remove makeup and in combination with the corrective and unclogging care below, I hardly ever worry about blemishes anymore.
Effaclar Duo Corrective and Unclogging Care
If you suffer with acne, this might be the product for you. The corrective and unclogging care helps reduce the number and severity of breakouts, as well as improving pore sizes. It has a soothing, anti-irritant thermal spring water to reduce redness, which the brand is quite renowned for. Of all the La Roche-Posay products, this is certainly one of their best sellers. It’s lightweight and works like a moisturiser, applying it after serum but before sunscreen, onto areas that are prone to breakouts. I have combination skin and it’s said to dry out your skin, although I didn’t notice much of a difference. Just note it can take up to a few weeks of consistent use to see any results.
The Serozinc spray is a new and much adored favourite of mine from the brand. It is basically very similar to a thermal spray, but with added zinc which is specifically designed to target key signs of oily, acne prone and irritated skin. Serozinc is created with just three ingredients: healing zinc sulphate, astringent sodium chloride and purified water. These ingredients target blemishes, marks and excess oiliness, ensuring your skin is kept fresh and well cared for.
I love sprays and mists when it comes to skincare because they’re so refreshing, easy to use and travel friendly. Any time I’m away for a weekend I make sure to pack it for a quick spritz or when I don’t have time to go through my whole skincare routine. It’s a life saver. I use it any time I’m feeling particularly oily as it actually helps mattify skin and prevent excess shine. In other words, it’s a great little spray for summer!
Anthelios XL Ultra Light Facial Fluid
Suitable for oily to acne prone skin, the Anthelios XL Ultra light offers the highest protection against UVA and UVB rays for your face. It’s a light, non-greasy formula that you can use under makeup without even noticing a difference. Never would I have thought I’d love a sunscreen this much, but this is without a doubt my favourite product from La Roche-Posay at the moment. I’m all about sun safety at the moment (16 year old me is cringing right now) after doing some serious research into the effects of sun exposure. Skin cancer, premature ageing, wrinkles, fine lines, sun spots, redness, dehydration… NO THANK YOU.
Anthelios XL Face & Body spray
This spray has been formulated for sun-sensitive, allergy-prone skin, and can be applied to the face and body. Usually I would opt for the facial blend for my face, and this one for my body, but if I’m in a hurry I’ll just spray this over my face too! It absorbs quickly, is super convenient and leaves no white marks.
Anthelios XL Invisible Nutritive Oil
If you’ve been following Sunday Chapter for a while, you’ll probably have noticed my pretty undeniable love for oils mentioned once or a hundred times somewhere. The invisible nutritive oil is specifically helps protect the skin against sun-induced pigment spots but it’s essentially a high protection sunscreen oil for the body.
It’s not too oily and it absorbs well, especially under makeup if you’re using it on your face. Despite there being a light fragrance, it is safe for sensitive skin like all La Roche-Posay products. I much prefer oils to anything else when it comes to sunscreen (or anything in life really) and this is one of, if not THE best I’ve used. It’s hydrating and gives your skin a glow without feeling greasy. I mean, what more could you want?
Have you ever tried products from La Roche-Posay? Are there any that you’d like to? Love hearing all your thoughts!
