Self Tanning Favourites for the Perfect Bronzed Glow

Tanning Tips | Sunday Chapter

Winter is on the horizon which means it’s time to step up my self-tan game. If you know me, you’ll know I live and die by tanning products. I wish I could invite you guys into my bathroom because I could probably open up a tanning store at this point with the amount of products I buy into.

That being said, I’m excited to be sharing with you my favourite tanning products currently on rotation to help you achieve that flawless, golden glow.

Tanning Tips

Shower and exfoliate with a good scrub or dry brush before hand. A gritty exfoliant like Soap & Glory’s The Scrub of Your Life usually does the trick. This will ensure your tan will apply flawlessly.

If you’re using a foam/mousse, I always apply with this mitt by St Tropez. It’s seriously the best I have ever come across and trust me, I’ve been through A LOT. No one does it like St Tropez when it comes to tanning mitts. It could probably give hope to even the streakiest of self-tanners.

Moisturise regularly to prolong your tan and avoid any patchiness from dry areas.

Facial tanners

In all honesty, I was never into face tanners up until recently. When I self-tan, I wont ever tan my face (normally just ends in disaster and it’s not great for your skin) so my face is always lighter than my body. I was pleasantly surprised by this Facial Tanning Serum by Red Earth. Before I get into the product, I just want to note that I love this brand especially because it’s free from parabens, mineral oil, artificial colours and fragrances, which makes it perfect for facial use. Plus it contains argan oil which I absolutely LOVE.

The product itself is lovely, light and blends like a dream. Although it’s fragrance free, I do find it has a slight scent to it which disappears shortly after application. This is a product I will recommend over again and I’m fairly certain I’ve raved about it on the Sunday Chapter before. It just gives off the most beautiful, lightweight and illuminating glow, leaving you looking like you’ve just left the beach. It also works in effortlessly under makeup, although when I’m using this I don’t wear nearly as much makeup. You only need to apply every 2-3 days which ensures the bottle lasts a very long time!

Body tanners

Now onto my absolute favourite tanning product, the Self Tanning Foam by Bondi Sands. I’ve been using this product for almost 2 years now and I can confirm it is worth the hype. It comes in two shades – light/medium and dark. I’ve only ever reached for the dark shade and I absolutely adore it. It’s probably the darkest self-tan I’ve come across, but you can control how dark it goes by rinsing off quickly after application, or applying more than one layer.

If I have an event coming up, I’ll always apply it the night before, sleep on it & then rinse off in the morning. There’s a couple things I do dislike about this tan, one being the scent. I wont lie, you will smell sort of like a biscuit, although not anything overwhelming and it subsides over time, but since I use it at least once a week, it gets old. BUT it’s something I can definitely deal with.

Body shimmer & glow

Although it’s not an everyday essential, if I’m on holiday or off to somewhere special, I’ll usually add some body shimmer too. I love body shimmer in the form of oil, particularly the Nuxe Multi-Purpose Dry Golden Oil. Not only does it repair, nourish & soften the skin, it adds shimmer! I love using this as a highlighter for my face, just applying to the top of my cheekbones, and for legs! It gives off the most amazing bronzed glow as it also acts as a body oil.

I have to add I’m also very in love with the Clarins Radiance Plus Golden Glow Booster which I’ve just started testing out but thought I’d mention. I have a feeling it’s going to become an all-time favourite beauty product of mine. It comes in a for face & for body versions, but I’d recommend going for the body since there’s not much of a price difference. It’s essentially a self-tanner that provides a gradual, radiant, natural-looking tan which can be mixed with any Clarins body care product. Simply add 4-6 drops into your regular body lotion and apply as usual for a made-to-measure tan.

Well, that’s it from me! Do you have any tanning favourites? I’d love to hear & try them out!
