Lush Inspired DIY Bubblegum Lip Scrub

This is a post I’ve been so excited to share with you guys because I know like myself, a lot of you are fans of the store Lush. I recently did a bit of haul and came across their Bubblegum Lip Scrub which smells AMAZING. Seriously. The bad thing is, it didn’t last that long for me & I don’t have a local Lush store, so I thought I’d look into the ingredients & make one for myself!

According to their website, the Lip scrub consists of castor sugar, jojoba oil, methyl ionone (which is what gives it the bubblegum flavour) & food colouring to turn it pink. I’m sure you’re all very happy to know that with just a few of the ingredients tweaked, the lip scrub turned out pretty much identical to the Lush one.

You’ll need (makes 5):

3 Tbsp Sugar
1 Tbsp Jojoba or Olive Oil
2 Drops of Bubblegum Extract (can be found online or craft stores)
3 Drops of Pink Food Colouring
Empty Lip Balm containers (either from craft stores, $2 stores or online)

Place all your ingredients into a bowl and mix. Pop them into the empty lip balm containers and you’re DONE! Easy as that.

This is so handy! I love the lip scrubs from LUSH so will be trying this out! Great post per usual! xx

  • Awesome! I've tried a DIY lip scrub before and I think it was essentially oil and sugar – or honey and sugar? Regardless, I really didn't like it! This one looks really great though, not as sludgey as mine turned out haha! Lip scrubs are a must though :P

  • Thank you for sharing this! I was always hesitant to buy them as you really are paying for the fun flavours since sugar scrubs are so easy to make at home.

  • Heather

What a nice, simple idea! I love the lush scrubs but they are super expensive, I guess you could use mint oil to recreate the mint one too :)
