No matter what I do or what time I go to bed, I think it’s safe to say I’ll just never be a morning person. I’m sure I’m not alone when I say I’ve spent hours in bed, scrolling through instagram and pinterest (my newest addiction) before actually trying to go to sleep. I’ve put together a few tips and tricks on how to look more awake on those tired, early mornings and in only a few short steps!
STEP 1 > USE CONCEALER TO BRIGHTEN
Using a concealer around 2 shades lighter than your skin tone to help counteract some of that darkness around your eyes. Apply it from the inner corner and under your eye as well as from the inner corner to your eyelids like shown in the pictures. Make sure to set it with a translucent or light powder so it doesn’t move throughout the day. This will help brighten those inner corners and hide any dark circles.
STEP 02 > LIGHTEN YOUR WATERLINE
Use a light coloured eyeliner, either nude or a light pink will do. I’m using eye bright by Benefit – an absolute lifesaver when it comes to nights I’ve had little to no sleep. Apply it to your lower waterline and inner corners and blend for a wide awake look. You can also apply this as a highlighter for under your eyebrows.
STEP 03> ADD SOME SHIMMER
This step is optional but I like to quickly apply either a cream eyeshadow – a crayon like above or even a swipe of Maybelline’s Colour Tattoos. Highlighters also work just as well if you’re trying to cut down on products. Use light shades like golds or creams and try to stay away from white as it can look a bit unnatural. Apply to your eyelids and inner corners. This will further highlight your eyes, add some colour and make them appear brighter and more awake.
STEP 04 > DEFINE THE CREASE
Using your bronzer shade I like to lightly apply on the outer corners of my eye and into the crease. Be careful to stay away from the inner corner. This just creates a bit of definition and makes your eyes stand out a lot more. I’m using the a medium bronzer shade in the Sleek Face Contour Kit.
STEP 05 > CURL & COAT THOSE LASHES
What I find one the most important steps – mascara. Use a curler first to curl your lashes for maximum results, although it’s optional, I highly recommend it. Then apply your mascara, I’m using my favourite Wonder’full by Rimmel. Make sure to use a mascara that will hug your lashes, reaching all those small stubborn ones! I also like to apply mascara to my lower lashes because I feel it makes my eyes bigger.
And the finished look! I hope you all enjoyed this post. Feel free to share any makeup tips or tricks you use in the comments :)
